Official kick-off the holiday season with special and fun activities, 11am to 6pm: Painting and store-specific activities happening at store sites, on Myrtle Avenue between Washington Park and Classon Avenue. All other activities take place at entrance to Fort Greene Park-- 1) come out and watch artists paint holiday designs directly onto storefront windows in the first annual Myrtle Holiday Windows contest, then w/mobile phone in hand vote by texting in your favorite; 2) several merchants open late for holiday shopping and offering plethora of specials from 'buy-1, get 1 frees' to free desserts, to 10% to 40% off bargains, to in-store events, to selected item steals via Shop Brooklyn's "Brooklyn Bonus Weekend" specials; 3) Benjamin Banneker High School for Community Development/ NY Cares Coat Drive; 4) Holiday trees, wreaths, stands and unique, colorful ornaments for sale; 5) Hot cider for sale to warm the stomach; 6) Caroling--to warm the spirit; 7) and much much more.
