Dear Friends and Colleagues:
Today, the Furman Center released the 2009 State of New York City’s Housing and Neighborhoods report. This year we examine New York City’s recent building boom and find that 170,000 new units were built between 2000-2008, more than two and a half times the amount built in the previous eight year period. In addition, we evaluate the state of mortgage lending in the City, highlight the state of immigrant New Yorkers and immigrant neighborhoods, and, as always, provide detailed data on housing and demographic trends in each of the City’s 59 community districts.
We look forward to your feedback and ideas for ways to continue to improve this report. If you would like to receive a hard copy, please email furmancenter@nyu.edu.
