NYC Department of Finance has implemented a new change for real estate tax exemptions. If you received a not-for-profit exemption renewal form from the Department of Finance, sent on September 19, 2011, please complete the renewal letter and return it to the Department of Finance. It is a time-sensitive document and needs to be submitted to them by October 24th. If you know of any organization that will also be affected by this change, please inform them of this new requirement asap with a note of high importance so they are aware.

The Furman Center issued the 9th edition of its State of New York City's Housing and Neighborhoods. In this annual report, the Furman Center compiles statistics on housing, demographics and quality of life indicators in the City, its five boroughs and 59 community districts. This year we examined the impact of foreclosures on New York City's multi-family rental stock, analyzed where New Yorkers work and how they commute, and highlighted the Furman Center's latest research on public and subsidized rental housing.
